FAQ

Q: I thought I had an excellent resume, but never got a call back on my applications. What am I doing wrong?

A: There could be several reasons. It is possible your resume is not as good as you thought. It may contain errors and may not reflect your true abilities and qualifications. Many people undersell themselves because they do not want to come across as bragging. Additionally, your resume might not be strategically aligned for the job for which you are applying. More and more human resource departments are using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to assist in selecting candidates. If your resume does not meet the ATS criteria, part or all of your resume may not even be recognized by the program. Therefore, the format and content of your resume is essential for your success. This is why you should hire an expert to optimize your document.

Q: Do you offer in-person services?

A: No, all interviews are conducted by phone, Zoom virtual platform or FaceTime. With Zoom, the process is comparable to an in-person meeting, as you will see the writer and view the document as it transforms. It is a highly collaborative process. The writer is accustomed to working with international clients with accents, so you don’t have to fear that she won’t understand you.

Q: Will a professional resume guarantee I will get a job?

A: No, there are no such guarantees. A professional resume will give you an edge for a position for which you are qualified, but any resume service that guarantees you will be hired solely for your resume is not being honest. The only true guarantee is that you have the best resume possible that describes your qualifications in the most favourable light.

Q: How quickly will I receive my resume once my interview has been completed?

A: The average turnaround time is one to four days following your interview appointment. This does not include weekends. If you have a tight deadline, please indicate this to the writer to see if this can be accommodated. Most of our clients require quick service.

Q: What will this cost me?

A: A minimum cost for a daytime appointment is $226.80, including GST. While exact costs may vary, the average resume costs approximately $340.20, which includes two hours of interview time and one hour for editing plus GST.

Q: How long will you retain my files?

A: All files are retained permanently. If you lose your documents and require a replacement, there is a fee of $10.00 plus GST to search for it and have it emailed to you. However, if you need a resume update, the time for emailing your documents is included in the normal fee.

Q: Why should I choose you over other resume writing services?

A: With over 35 years of experience, I am often called upon to rewrite resumes produced by other resume writing services to correct and improve their documents. The bottom line is, “you get what you pay for.”
